Cruise Lines (and the Ships) that Cruise from Australia

Want to Know about Cruise Lines and the Ships that Visit Australia?

Cruising in Australia is fast becoming one of the most popular ways to holiday.

Almost 1.3 Million Australians took a cruise in 2016!  Were you one of them?  If not, you probably know someone who did!

Australians spent 12 million days at sea in 2016 (2016 Australian Cruise Industry Source Market Report). That’s a lot of beds and a lot of cocktails!

So what ships are taking all these lucky Passengers to exciting & exotic destinations within Australia and the surrounding Pacific Ocean?

Here is a list I have put together of the Cruise Lines and their Ships that you can jump onboard from Australia for your next holiday.

Most of the Ships below visit Australia during the “Cruising Season” between October & April.

But you will find some Companies (namely P&O and Princess) have Ships that cruise from Australian Ports all year round.

As well as the Ships listed above there may be other Cruise Lines that visit Australia and take on passengers as they pass through.  For example P&O UK has an Adults-only vessel that sometimes calls into Australian Ports during its Round-the-World tour.

Also bear in mind that year to year Cruise Lines will alter their arrangements, with ships re-deployed to different cruising ‘hot-spots’ around the world. So a Ship that calls Australia home one season may not be here the next.

For example, our largest Cruise-ship, RCI Ovation of the Seas will be saying goodbye to Australian Waters after next season.

Then there is the changing of the colours that goes on between Cruise Lines: buying and selling and swapping of Ships between Companies.

For example Princess' Dawn Princess was re-furbished this year and is now P&O’s newest member Pacific Explorer!

Each year Cruise-Lines publish their Cruising Schedules for the following season, so keep an eye out for these if you are interested in staying up to date with the ships that will serve the Australian Ports each season.

One thing is for certain:  If Aussies continue to embrace Cruising Culture as they have over the past few years our options of Cruise-Lines and Ships will only grow!

Happy Cruising Everyone!
